GIVE A HELPING HAND TO SOMEONE IN THE DARK
Over the past 10 years, the legendary themed Guide Dogs Ball has become an eagerly anticipated annual event. Regarded as the premier charity event on the South African social calendar, each year, the ball creates an evening of enchantment and intrigue at which corporate sponsors, celebrities and private individuals come together in aid of the South African Guide-Dogs Association for the Blind (SAGA).
Organised by Edith Unlimited in association with Montecasino, and with Elana Afrika lending her warm and generous nature as patron of the event this year, the ball signifies the dedication and enthusiasm that SAGA has exuded for 58 years in training dogs to assist the visually impaired and physically disabled. By providing these services, Guide Dogs continues to improve the quality of life, through providing independence, mobility, companionship and the dignity to those most deserving.
While highlighting the stark reality of the blind, the ball also provides a high profile platform for the public and corporates to host preferential clients and relationship partners in an environment of gracious hospitality and generosity. Guests can look forward to enjoying thrilling entertainment, a delicious three-course meal, superb wines per course and much more, in an enchanted atmosphere of glitz, glamour and goodwill.
Montecasino, Gauteng’s number one premier entertainment destination and venue sponsor, will for the fifth year in a row host the glamorous event. The venue’s fantastic facades and water features will provide the perfect enigmatic atmosphere for a night of intrigue at this year’s DINNER IN THE DARK ball.
An added attraction to this year’s event is that the traditional puppy auction that happens each year at the event will now be driven by Joff van Reenen, lead auctioneer of the High St Auction Co. Joff comments, “The High St Auction Co is very excited to be part of such a prestigious event. The incredible value that a guide dog brings to a visually impaired person is one that we believe can never have a price put on it but we certainly are committed to helping the organisation raise as much money through the puppy auction as possible!”
